The
Time
To Act
Patients
need the right answers to stay healthy. On a daily basis, they’re bombarded
with so much confusing and contradictory information about their food choices,
their lifestyles, and medications that they often don’t know what to do. As
a result, the health statistics are worsening. According to recent headlines,
we have more children in our school systems than ever before that are
suffering from childhood diabetes, ADD, and ADHD. To top it off, childhood
obesity is approaching epidemic proportions. The newest adult statistics on
heart disease and cancer, are that 37% of us can look forward to dying of heart
disease and another 25% of us can look forward to dying of cancer. If that isn’t
sobering enough, another 4% of us can look forward to dying from complications
from prescription drugs that we are told will make us better. What
happened to just growing old comfortably?
Another
recent headline showed a study by
Georgetown
University
stating that most patient testing was useless and uncalled for. These tests
frequently produce “false positives”, leading to more testing and anxiety,
costing taxpayers billions of dollars a year.
No wonder our healthcare system is collapsing.
A
case in point for me was a patient who was a professional sea captain that
suffered for years with severe digestive issues that we cleared up in about
six months. He was also shown how to test himself with the two Riddler Points.
He had been happily cruising along with a maintenance program for six
years adding a little Zypan and Multizyme when he felt the need.
He and his wife had also made some major lifestyle and diet changes,
and were ordering product on a regular basis (this family was buying between
$160 and $180 worth of product a month). Their
use of Zypan and Multizyme went up in the fall and over Christmas
understandably. He also noticed his use was higher when he was under stress.
By testing himself he seemed to be able to keep a chronic digestive
problem that plagued him for years under control.
Then,
about four months ago, as he was finishing a trip from New England to
California
through the
Panama Canal
on a mega yacht, he started to feel dizzy and nauseous. When he got back to
San Diego
he went to his primary care physician, who spent the next two and a half
months putting him through a whole battery of tests, including two CAT scans.
They couldn’t find anything wrong with him, but noted his liver panels were
high, but not out of the normal ranges. Otherwise he had a clean bill of
health. Unfortunately, he couldn’t go back to work because every time he
stood up, suddenly he was dizzy and almost collapsed.
When all else fails
Frustrated
and desperate, he came in for retesting. His Symptom Survey, Nutritional Exam,
and ACG pointed to severe adrenal fatigue. His Ragland’s blood pressure
test, from lying to standing dropped 26 mm! His ACG also showed a pattern
suggestive of liver congestion, need for vitamin B, vitamin E, and calcium
metabolism issues. In his report of findings it was discovered his problems
began right after he had his amalgam fillings removed and
went back to work moving the 10 million dollar mega yacht to
California
with a very stressful owner aboard. He was put on 3 Drenamin, 3 Whole
Desiccated Adrenal and 6 Cardio-Plus just to help get things moving. Within 24
hours, he was feeling pretty much normal.
He then started a mild detoxification program including a Page food
plan and was given a handout that showed him how to make a cilantro pesto to detoxify
mercury.
The
patient went back to work within three weeks, feeling happy and healthy again.
His parting comment was, “you make this so easy and I don’t have a giant
bill with all kinds of expensive lab work. You always make information
available for me to help support myself on a daily basis.”
Key
Points
A
simple Raglan's test spotlighted a severe adrenal issue followed up by a
complete nutritional exam confirmed a chronic adrenal problem. So
what was the key points that turned this patient into a long-term patient?
The patient felt good about his results because he knew the program had been tailored especially for him.
Between the computerized Symptom Survey screening, the Nutritional Exam, and the ACG, the
patient felt that his case had really been assessed professionally and
personally. He was getting exactly
what he needed, including ways to test himself and control his chronic
digestion problem.
So
why am I bringing this up? For over a decade, the Foundation has tried to
support the practitioner on the use of whole food nutrition in his practice.
It’s becoming quite apparent by the many e-mails and phone calls we receive
on a daily basis that many of you have figured out how to get people in the
front door and give them a protocol, but are having a hard time maintaining them as long-term patients.
If you’re just starting out building a
nutritional practice, you may have patients not taking you seriously because
you failed to establish a system that supports the patient and their needs.
